PMC Partners With Kimpton for Pittsburgh Hotel Conversion

Pittsburgh, PA — Affiliates of PMC Property Group, Inc., and Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, LLC, are joining forces to convert an historic Pittsburgh landmark office building into an upscale boutique hotel. The nine-story, Beaux Arts-style James H. Reed Building is situated at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and William Penn Way in the City’s Golden Triangle neighborhood.

Scheduled to open in late 2014, the Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh will be Kimpton’s first hotel property in Pittsburgh and will feature 247 rooms, nearly 9,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and a 120-seat restaurant. According to a September 2013 Kimpton press release, guests can expect “a warm and playful approach to hospitality” and interiors that reflect “a locally inspired and distinctive take on the vibrant and whimsical Hotel Monaco style.” Kimpton will operate the hotel.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kimpton on this project, given their experience and proven track record with adaptive reuse projects, and we are impressed with the quality and professionalism of the Kimpton team,” said PMC Property Group President Ron Caplan. “We have also developed many historic conversion properties over the years, so it seemed like a natural partnership to work with Kimpton on this unique hotel.”
